Uterine cancer has the 10th highest incident rate and ranks 8th in mortality of cancers among women's cancers. A major risk factor for the development of uterine cancer is human papillomavirus (HPV), which means that regular screening can prevent almost 90% of cases. The five-year (relative) survival rate of uterine cancer is 85%1.
Have More Babies... Seriously.
Apparently, women who have never had a baby are twice as likely to develop uterine cancer compared to women who have had at least one child. This appears to be attributed to estrogen levels, which drop during pregnancy; but, let's not get carried away... The reality is that high levels of estrogen increase risk of uterine cancer, which is why late menopause and estrogen hormone replacement therapy are also risk factors2.
