Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL) is a cancer that starts in lymphocytes, a type of white blood cell that fights infection and contributes to the immune system. There are several versions of NHL (over 30), based on the type of lymphocyte the cancer started from1... For an extensive list, see the Lymphoma Canada website. As if cancer wasn't cruel enough, in the case of NHL, cancer is actually coming from cells that are meant to defend the body!

Non-Hodgkin lymphoma has the sixth highest incidence rate and seventh highest mortality. The lifetime probability of developing NHL is about 2%, with an approximate 1% chance of dying from NHL2.
